SUBCOMMITTEES REPORT BACK TO PRESIDENT'S MENTAL HEALTH COMMISSION

Six remaining subcommittees of the President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health will give their reports to the full Commission at the Feb. 4-6, 2003 meeting. A seventh subcommittee will update the Commission on its progress. Subcommittees giving reports include: Employment and Income Support, Housing and Homelessness, Children and Families, Medicaid, Cultural Competence and Evidence-Based Practice (Medication Issues). The Subcommittee on Consumer Issues will provide an update on its work.

The Commission is charged with conducting a comprehensive study of America's mental health services delivery system and advising the President on methods of improving the system. The commission, comprised of 22 members appointed by President Bush, is chaired by Michael F. Hogan, Ph.D., Director, Ohio Department of Mental Health.
