SAVE THESE DATES FOR ALTERNATIVES 2004
The 19th annual Alternatives conference, the only national mental health conference organized by and for mental health consumers and survivors, will be held from October 13 to 17, 2004, at the Marriott Denver City Center in Denver, Colorado.
The theme of Alternatives 2004 - "Achieving the Promise of Recovery: New Freedom, New Power, New Hope" - was chosen to echo the title of the report of the President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health: "Achieving the Promise: Transforming Mental Health Care in America."
Stay tuned to the CMHS Consumer Affairs E-News for information about registration for the conference and the upcoming Call for Presentations announcement and submission forms that will be available soon.
The Alternatives Conferences, sponsored by CMHS, began in 1985 as an educational and networking forum for national, state and local leaders and advocates in the consumer/survivor movement. Past themes of Alternatives conferences have focused on the latest issues involving policy, research, treatment and recovery, education, advocacy, and organizing. These meetings have helped to bring together consumer/survivor leaders from around the country, build relationships and alliances, and strengthen the consumer/survivor movement and overall consumer voice in the mental health care system.
