MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT
SAMHSA'S CENTER FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES NATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL, SUBCOMMITTEE ON CONSUMER/SURVIVOR ISSUES
MARCH 20-21, 2006 - ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND
The Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) Subcommittee on Consumer/Survivor Issues of the CMHS National Advisory Council (NAC) will hold its next meeting on Monday, March 20 through Tuesday, March 21 at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in Rockville, Maryland. (See below for address.) The meeting will take place in the Sugarloaf Room and is open to the public. All those interested are encouraged to attend.
The agenda of the upcoming meeting features presentations from the Director of CMHS, Kathryn Power, M.Ed., and the Special Assistant to the Administrator of SAMHSA, Kana Enomoto. There will also be presentations and discussions on the development of the Subcommittee's consumer-driven statement, a report on the early development of the consumer-operated services evidence-based practice implementation resource kit, discussion of the recently published consensus definition of recovery, person-centered planning, consumer views on the Institute of Medicine's report on mental health, and the development of evidence-based practices for older adults. Attendees are also provided an opportunity for public comment. (See agenda below)
The full CMHS National Advisory Council Meeting will take place at the same site on the two days immediately following the Subcommittee meeting, March 22-23, 2005.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE CMHS CONSUMER/SURVIVOR SUBCOMMITTEE
The Subcommittee on Consumer/Survivor Issues was formed in August 2000 to report to the CMHS National Advisory Council (NAC) on the specific needs, issues and concerns of mental health consumers/survivors from the consumer/survivor perspective, and to advise and make recommendations to the NAC. (A complete list of the Subcommittee's recommendations to the NAC can be accessed at http://samhsa.gov/cmhs/AdvisoryCouncil/matrix.asp .) The Subcommittee consists of members of the NAC and expert consultants.
