$5 Million Available for National Center for Child Traumatic Stress

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced the availability of FY 2005 funds for one grant to operate the National Center for Child Traumatic Stress under the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative. This grant will develop and maintain the structure of the initiative by providing technical assistance to grantees within the initiative, oversee resource development and dissemination, and coordinate national education and training efforts.

It is expected that approximately $5 million will be available to fund one grant to provide leadership, infrastructure and support for the initiative to achieve its goals of increasing access and raising the standard of care for traumatized children, adolescents and their families. The actual award amount may vary, depending on the availability of funds. The grants will be administered by SAMHSA's Center for Mental Health Services.

WHO CAN APPLY: Eligible applicants are domestic public and private nonprofit entities such as community-based organizations, out-patient clinics, faith-based organizations, public or private universities, psychiatric or general hospitals, State or local governments, federally recognized tribes and tribal organizations and partnerships of multiple clinical centers, programs and/or community service providers.

Click on "Grants". Applicants are encouraged to apply on line through a new service at www.grants.gov.
