$500,000 Available for Data Physician Clinical Support System
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced the availability of FY 2004 funds to develop a coordinated, clinical-support program for physicians who are treating addicted patients with buprenorphine products. The targeted participants in the clinical support system are primary care physicians, pain specialists, psychiatrists and other non-addiction medical practitioners who are often reluctant to treat addicted patients and are not familiar with opioid addiction treatment.
.45 Million Available to Fund National Training and Technical Assistance Center for Child and Adolescent Mental Health
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for a fiscal year 2004 cooperative agreement to support a national resource and training center to promote the planning and development of child and family-centered, culturally competent, coordinated systems of care for children and adolescents with, or at risk for, serious emotional disturbances, and their families. The goal of a system of care is to keep children within home and community-based settings. The center will also address the needs of children and adolescents with co-occurring substance abuse and mental disorders.
$5.3 Million Available for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Substance Abuse State Infrastructure Grants
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced the availability of FY 2004 funds for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Substance Abuse State Infrastructure Grants. These grants will strengthen the capacity of states, territories and Native American tribal governments to develop, expand and sustain substance abuse and mental health services, including early intervention, treatment and continuing services and supports at the community level. The focus is on children, adolescents and youth in transition to adulthood with serious emotional disturbance, substance abuse disorder or co-occurring disorders, and their families.
.9 Million Available for State Incentive Grants to Build Capacity for Alternatives to Restraint and Seclusion
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced availability of FY 2004 funds for State Incentive Grants to Build Capacity for Alternatives to Restraint and Seclusion. These grants will support states in their efforts to adopt best practices to reduce and ultimately eliminate the use of restraint and seclusion in institutional and community-based settings that provide mental health services, including services for people with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders.
