March Update on the National Anti-Stigma Campaign

Thank you for your continued support and interest in SAMHSA's National Anti-Stigma Campaign (NASC). Below you will find an update on the Campaign's activities and information to help with your NASC-related efforts.

Campaign Activities

The Ad Council has distributed media kits nationally to more than 7,500 radio stations and 1,400 TV stations. All 210 designated markets areas received kits, including more than 1,200 English and bilingual broadcast television stations. Kits contained a broadcast quality tape or CD of public service announcements (PSAs), recorded scripts, campaign fact sheets and contact information.

If you want a list of media stations in your local area that received an NASC media kit, please contact the NASC Liaison at nasc-liaison@nami.org.

Supplemental Campaign Activities

On January 17th and February 7th, the SAMHSA Resource Center to Address Discrimination and Stigma (ADS Center) sponsored teleconferences in support of the NASC and its activities. If you were unable to participate in these teleconferences, you may access the archived calls from the ADS Center website at http://www.stopstigma.samhsa.gov/archtel.htm.

Localization of PSAs

PSAs currently carry the national tagline, but if you are interested in localizing the PSAs, which would direct the public to your local mental health resources, the Ad Council can add your local tagline for a fee. Customization cost is $400 per videotape for TV use, and $600 per CD for radio use. Contact the NASC Liaison at nasc-liaison@nami.org for the TV and radio localization form.

We are pleased with the progress and exciting potential of the NASC. We look forward to your support and continued involvement in sharing the message, "What a Difference a Friend Makes."

Should you have any campaign related inquiries, please contact Elizabeth Edgar, the NASC Liaison, at nasc-liaison@nami.org.
