.3 Million Available for Campus Suicide Prevention Grant

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announces the availability of funds for Campus Suicide Prevention Grants that provide funding to institutions of higher education to enhance services for students with mental and behavioral health problems, such as depression, substance abuse, and suicide attempts.

It is expected that up to .3 million will be available to fund approximately 31 awards in Fiscal Year 2006. Annual awards are expected to be $75,000 in total costs plus an equivalent match from the applicant organization.

WHO CAN APPLY: Eligibility is limited to institutions of higher education. Applicants from both public and private institutions may apply, including state universities, private four-year colleges and universities (including those with religious affiliations), institutions serving minorities, and community colleges.

HOW TO APPLY: Applications for No. SM-06-004 are available by calling SAMHSA's clearinghouse at 1-800-729-6686, or by downloading from www.Grants.gov or www.samhsa.gov. Applicants are encouraged to apply on line using www.Grants.gov.

APPLICATION DUE DATE: Must be received by May 16, 2006
