.6 Million Available for Suicide Prevention Resource Center
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced the availability of FY 2005 funds for a cooperative agreement to create and operate a suicide prevention resource center that will assist states, territories, tribes and communities in their efforts to plan for the development, implementation and evaluation of suicide prevention programs.
It is expected that approximately .6 million will be available to fund one cooperative agreement to create and operate a national technical assistance center for suicide prevention, as authorized under the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act. The average annual award amount is expected to be .6 million per year for up to five years. The actual award amount may vary, depending on the availability of funds. The cooperative agreements will be administered by SAMHSA's Center for Mental Health Services.
WHO CAN APPLY: Eligible applicants are domestic public and private nonprofit entities including state, local or tribal governments; public or private universities and colleges; community and faith-based organizations; and tribal organizations.
