CONSUMER SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR 2003 NARMH CONFERENCE

The 2003 National Association for Rural Mental Health (NARMH) Annual Conference

"Across the Generations: Rural Mental Health Needs and Opportunities" Orlando, Florida -- July 17-20, 2003

Since 2002, the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), through a contract with Westat/Health Systems Research, Inc. (HSR), has been providing support for consumer participation at various conferences and meetings. The scholarship program promotes the communication of consumer perspectives related to mental health policy and program development and implementation, to mental health professionals, policy makers, and State officials. In addition, the program provides CMHS with valuable consumer perspectives on current cutting-edge recovery, treatment, rehabilitation and support services, and emerging trends and issues in mental health service delivery. In 2002, 153 consumers received support for participation in seven national meetings.

The current project provides scholarship support to rural/frontier consumers who wish to participate in the 2003 annual conference sponsored by the National Association for Rural Mental Health (NARMH). If you are interested in applying for scholarship support to attend this meeting, please contact Lu Ann Rice of NARMH (contact information below) and obtain an application. Completed applications must be postmarked by no later than May 15th and should be submitted to Stephanie Hauser of HSR (contact information below).
