Funding Available for Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Mental Health Consumer-Centered and Community-Based Practices and Supports

The Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) has announced an invitation for applications to support one Rehabilitation Research and Training Center focused on the priority area of Promoting Access To Effective Consumer-Centered And Community-Based Practices And Supports For Adults With Serious Mental Illness.

This program is co-funded by NIDRR and SAMHSA with funding estimated at .3 million annually for five years.

Eligible Applicants include: States; public or private agencies, including for-profit agencies; public or private organizations, including for-profit organizations; IHEs; and Indian tribes and tribal organizations.

Deadline for Transmittal of Applications: August 16, 2005.

A pre-application meeting will be held on June 30. Interested parties may participate in this meeting either in person or by conference call at the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, Potomac Center Plaza, room 6082, 550 12th Street, SW., Washington, DC between 10 a.m. and 12 noon. After the meeting, NIDRR staff also will be available from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on that same day to provide information and technical assistance through individual consultation about the funding priority.
