CMS Issues Guidance to States on Self-Directed Care

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently issued guidance to States on implementation of self-directed personal assistance service (PAS) program under section 6087 of the Deficits Reduction Act of 2005. Specifically, States now have the option to amend their State plan to provide self-directed PAS to beneficiaries, without regard to the Medicaid requirements of comparability or statewideness.
