National Toll-Free Teleconference Opportunity

The STAR Center is pleased to invite you to attend a national toll-free audio teleconference, Asian American and Pacific Islanders� Experiences of Self-Help. This is the fourth installment in the STAR Center National Teleconference Series: Experiences of Self-Help in Diverse Communities.

The STAR Center's purpose is to enhance and improve self-help in diverse communities and to promote recovery. In order to achieve that goal, the Teleconference Series provides an interactive opportunity for participants to better understand the role of self-help as an essential ingredient to recovery.

The Asian American and Pacific Islanders� Experiences of Self-Help teleconference will provide an opportunity for a range of stakeholders to hear first-hand accounts of guest speakers' life experiences in applying self-help. Guest speakers will include Pacific Islander Sharon Yokote and Asian American Can Truong. Following the presentation, members of the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel

The teleconference will be held:
Wednesday, September 29, 2004 from 3:00pm-4:00pm ET.

Those interested in participating in the teleconference should RSVP by the close of business on Monday, September 27 by sending an e-mail message to AAPITeleconference@nami.org with the word "subscribe" (not in quotations) in the body of the message. If you have subscribed successfully, you will receive an automated message confirming that you are subscribed, and including instructions on how to unsubscribe should you wish to do so. Call-in information, including the toll-free number and teleconference pass code, will be provided via e-mail the evening of September 27 to those who RSVP by the deadline.

You may also RSVP via telephone by calling toll-free 1-866-537-STAR (7827) by close of business Monday, September 27. If you RSVP via telephone, STAR Center staff will contact you at the telephone number of your choice with call-in information.

Please let us know if you will be calling from outside the Continental United States, as we will need to make special arrangements for your participation.
