Online Brochure: Mental Health: It's Part of Our Lives at Work
One in five people in a typical U.S. office is likely to experience a mental illness each year. Experts increasingly acknowledge that work is a key factor in supporting mental wellness and warding off symptoms of mental illness. Work also can help people with mental illnesses as they go through the process of recovery.
Mental Health: It's Part of Our Lives at Work is an online brochure that offers information about mental health in the workplace. It reviews the potential risks and benefits of telling your employer that you have a mental illness, and offers links to resources that provide information on mental health problems within the context of work. The brochure is available online from The SAMHSA Resource Center to Address Discrimination and Stigma Associated with Mental Illness (ADS Center) at http://promoteacceptance.samhsa.gov/publications/livesatwork.aspx. The ADS Center works to counter stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness.
