Changes in Mental Health Financing Since 1971: Implications for Policymakers and Patients

This article provides an analysis of the mental health financing landscape from 1971 to present day noting that the share of mental health spending claims of the national income has been stable since 1971.  The analysis focuses on changes in providers, technologies, and the composition of financing and suggests future mental health financing constraints.
