This study of child fee-for-service Medicaid enrollees in four state Medicaid programs showed children receiving behavioral health services were disproportionately male, white, and older. The study also found that children receiving behavioral health treatment through Medicaid were three to six times more costly than child Medicaid enrollees receiving only general medical care.
