This study examines healthcare expenditures in diabetic veterans with co-occurring behavioral health conditions. Veterans with behavioral health conditions in combination with diabetes had considerably higher healthcare expenditures. The authors suggest that these results highlight he need for early behavioral health intervention and greater focus on multiple comorbidities to reduce healthcare costs.
