From Silos to Bridges: Meeting the General Health Care Needs of Adults with Severe Mental Illnesses

Categories:

Topics: Access/Barriers | Integrated Health | Mental Health | Spending

This study details methods of connecting mental and general health care systems including barriers to integration and avenues for overcoming those barriers.  The authors highlight the need for such integration by describing the reduced access and lower quality of general medical care available to the severally mentally ill in spite of the disproportionately higher general medical burdens in that population.
