A series of reports published by the advocacy group Health Care For America Now estimate the effects of Democratic health care reform on local hospital funding in select Congressional districts. The reports find that the Senate health care reform bill (HR 3590) and House reconciliation bill (HR 4872) will lower certain hospitals’ uncompensated care costs.
From the report:
Currently, hospitals in certain Congressional Districts do not get paid for millions of dollars worth of care they provide to the uninsured. That erodes hospitals' profit margins, making it harder for them to operate. The health reform legislation under consideration in the House of Representatives would change this. This series of reports outlines how much hospitals would save in select Congressional Districts.
