This National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) report presents data from a survey of juvenile justice and Medicaid agencies to determine Medicaid policies affecting youth involved in the juvenile justice system. The report focuses on Medicaid enrollment and retention policies geared to juvenile justice-involved youth.
From the report:
The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) fielded two surveys about health care and Medicaid policies for youth in the juvenile justice system. This paper is the second of three issue briefs containing survey findings. In this paper, we report survey findings relating Medicaid enrollment and retention policies for youth involved in the juvenile justice system and provide examples of promising practices used by state Medicaid and juvenile justice agencies.
