This St. Mary’s College of Maryland study published in the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved found that Maryland’s Medicaid managed care program increased preventative service utilization for all but white adolescents. The authors conclude that, while the managed care system improved the likelihood of children receiving preventative services, minority children experienced greater gains than their white peers.
