This article examines administrative burdens on psychiatrists and staff resulting from the Medicare Part D prescription drug plan and concludes that many of Part D’s features significantly increased administrative burdens. The authors caution that such burdens may decrease the amount of time devoted to patient care and, in turn, decrease the overall quality of mental health care.
