This 2002 paper summarizes published information on the effect of preventative interventions for M/SU conditions, demonstrating that preventative behavioral health interventions appropriate for managed care settings have been effective.  The paper recommends six preventative interventions found to produce cost savings or offset costs in managed care settings.
