From SAMHSA's Weekly Financing News Pulse: National Edition - May 6, 2011: On May 4, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) introduced legislation (S. 882) that would limit certain Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries’ ability to obtain prescription drugs if they are determined to be at “high-risk” for prescription drug abuse.  Under the bill, if beneficiaries are proven to have previously attempted to obtain drugs from multiple physicians or pharmacies they would only be permitted to obtain prescription drugs from certain physicians and pharmacies.  The bill now goes before the U.S. Senate Finance Committee.
