This study used data from the 2001 Medstat MarketScan database, a database of large employers's claims,  to explore trends in substance abuse treatment by beneficiaries of private insurance. The results examine utilization data of types of substance abuse services, access and cost of inpatient, outpatient and pharmaceutical services and trends in cost sharing.
