A new scientific report shows that effective treatment of drug abuse and addiction can help lower rates of criminal activity in the Nation’s communities.

Principles of Drug Abuse Treatment for Criminal Justice Populations: A Research-Based Guide, developed by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), outlines proven components for successful treatment of drug abusers who have entered the criminal justice system.
