- Admissions for primary abuse of alcohol with secondary use of other drugs represented
21 percent of TEDS admissions in 1996 (Table 3.2).
- Admissions for abuse of alcohol with secondary drug use differ markedly from those for
abuse of alcohol alone. These admissions peak at age 30-34 for both males and females

- Marijuana is the substance most frequently reported as a secondary substance by
alcohol admissions (62%). Smoked cocaine is reported as a secondary substance by 27
percent (Table 3.8).
