The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announces available funding for Treatment and Service Adaptation (TSA) Center grants through the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI). The purpose of NCTSI is to improve treatment and services for all children and adolescents in the United States who have experienced traumatic events. The initiative is designed to address child trauma issues by creating a national network of grantees—the National Child Traumatic Stress Network—that work collaboratively to develop and promote effective community practices for children and adolescents exposed to a wide array of traumatic events. Within NCTSI, the TSA Centers will provide national expertise and will serve as lead organizations for identifying and adapting effective treatment and services for specific types of trauma, types of trauma interventions, and/or traumatized populations. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network is composed of three types of centers: 1. The National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS) works with SAMHSA to develop and maintain the Network structure, provide technical assistance to grantees within the Network, oversee resource development and dissemination, and coordinate national education and training efforts; 2. The Treatment and Services Adaptation (TSA) Centers provide national expertise on specific types of traumatic events, population groups, and service systems and support the specialized adaptation of effective treatment and service approaches for communities across the country; and 3. The Community Treatment and Services (CTS) Centers implement and evaluate effective treatment and services in community settings and youth serving service systems and collaborate with other Network Centers on clinical issues, service approaches, policy, financing, and training issues. |
