What Grant Applicants Need to Know

  • Online Grants Application Process
  • IMPORTANT: Be sure your CCR registration is up-to-date
  • Grants.gov
  • "Get Started with Grants.gov" Webcast

  • Templates to Help You Get Started

SAMHSA has restructured the way we announce our grant funding opportunities for FY 2006.  Most announcements will be developed from a standard “template” for one of the following program areas: Services; Infrastructure; Best Practices; or Service to Science.  Requirements specific to each grant program will be added to the standard template.  In preparation for developing a grant application, prospective applicants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the basic format and requirements of the templates prior to the announcement of the funding opportunity.

    • Services                   Microsoft Word            Adobe Acrobat
    • Infrastructure          Microsoft Word            Adobe Acrobat
    • Best Practices Planning and Implementation   Coming Soon
    • Service-to-Science  Coming Soon

  • Formatting Requirements

Your application must adhere to the following formatting requirements. Failure to do so will result in your application being screened out and returned to you without review. In addition to these formatting requirements, there may be specific programmatic requirements. Please check the specific funding announcement before preparing your application.

    Requirement for ALL Grant Applications:

  • SAMHSA Grant Application Forms

The list below describes the forms required for the SAMHSA grant application process. In most cases, these forms are maintained by other Federal offices.  The Federal forms include detailed instructions for completing them.

PHS 5161-1 (revised July 2000): Includes the face page, budget forms and checklist.
