The Child, Adolescent and Family Branch of SAMHSA's Center for Mental Health Services invites prospective applicants to participate in one of two technical assistance (TA) workshops. These workshops are designed to assist applicants from State, county, city, tribal, and territory government entities in preparing applications to the published Guidance for Applicants (GFA) No. SM-02-002. GFA No. SM-02-002 announces cooperative agreements to develop systems of care for children with serious emotional disturbance and their families through the Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services Program for Children and Their Families, also referred to in the GFA as the Child Mental Health Initiative. Staff from the Child, Adolescent and Family Branch and consultants associated with the program will be available to discuss and answer questions about the announcement, proposal development, application review, and grants management. We suggest that those who attend the workshops be directly responsible for conceptualizing the project and writing the application on behalf of the State, county, city, tribal, or territory location where the project will occur. Day 1 of the TA Workshops will be devoted to an overview of the GFA, the nuts and bolts of proposal writing, and specific topics related to the development of systems of care. Day 2 will include a discussion of the keys to successful program and proposal development, a mock proposal review, and an opportunity for individualized technical assistance for prospective applicants. The workshops are structured to provide plenty of opportunity for questions and answers and informal conversations with program staff and other presenters. The workshops will be held in the following locations: |
