Date: 4/17/2008 SAMHSA to Fund Conference GrantsThe Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is now accepting applications for Knowledge Dissemination Conference grants. The purpose of these grants is to disseminate knowledge about practices within the mental health services, substance abuse prevention and substance treatment fields, pending the availability of FY 2008 funds. It is expected that $200,000 will be available to fund up to 4 grants at $50,000 each that will be administered by SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, and $100,000 will be available to fund up to 2 grants administered by SAMHSA’s Center for Mental Health Services. The grants will provide support for conferences related to substance abuse (including abuse of alcohol, tobacco, prescription and illicit drugs) and mental illness prevention, early intervention, and treatment innovations and service delivery. The average annual award amount is expected to be up to $50,000 for a maximum project period of 12 months. Indirect costs are not allowed under this program. The actual award amounts may vary, depending on the availability of funds. WHO CAN APPLY: Eligible applicants are domestic public and private nonprofit entities, such as local governments; federally recognized tribes, State recognized tribes, Urban Indian organizations; public or private universities and colleges; professional associations, voluntary organizations, self-help groups, consumer and provider services-oriented constituency groups; community-and faith-based organizations; and tribal organizations. Applicants are encouraged to apply online using www.grants.gov. APPLICATION DUE DATE: Applications are due on the initial date of May 30, 2008 for FY 08 only and on the recurring dates of September 30 and March 31 of each year.
