Date: 8/7/2008 SAMHSA Awards Funds for West VirginiaConference on Drug-Endangered ChildrenThe Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced the award of a Knowledge Dissemination Conference grant totaling $25,000 to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Institute of Charleston, West Virginia. The grants are being used to disseminate information about best practices within the mental health services, substance abuse prevention and substance treatment fields at regionally and/or nationally significant conferences. This particular grant will support the upcoming conference titled, ”Drug-Endangered Children: Meth and Beyond.” The conference will bring together and provide information to local stakeholders who impact the lives of the State’s drug-endangered children. The conference will take place September 3-5, 2008. This grant program will be administered by SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and only direct costs will be funded. The maximum conference grant award is $50,000 for a 12-month project period.
SAMHSA is a public health agency within the Department of Health and Human Services. The agency is responsible for improving the accountability, capacity and effectiveness of the nation's substance abuse prevention, addictions treatment, and mental health services delivery system. |
