Date: 8/7/2008 SAMHSA Awards Funds for TennesseeConference on Integrated Health CareThe Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced the award of a Knowledge Dissemination Conference grant totaling $25,000 to Cherokee Health Systems. The grants are being used to disseminate information about best practices within the mental health services, substance abuse prevention and substance treatment fields at regionally and/or nationally significant conferences. This particular grant will support an upcoming conference on integrating behavioral and primary care in Knoxville, TN. The conference will provide a forum for health care providers, educators, consumers, policy experts, administrators, and researchers to share information, build supportive networks, and help shape public health policy in the integration of primary care medicine, behavioral health and substance abuse services. The conference will take place in the spring of 2009. This grant program will be administered by SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and only direct costs will be funded. The maximum conference grant award is $50,000 for a 12-month project period. SAMHSA is a public health agency within the Department of Health and Human Services. The agency is responsible for improving the accountability, capacity and effectiveness of the nation's substance abuse prevention, addictions treatment, and mental health services delivery system. |
