Date: 8/7/2008 SAMHSA Awards Funds for PennsylvaniaConference on Recovery-based Research AgendaThe Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) today announced the award of a Knowledge Dissemination Conference grant totaling $25,000 to the Institute for Research, Education and Training in Addictions and the Northeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center. The grants are being used to disseminate information about best practices within the mental health services, substance abuse prevention and substance treatment fields at regionally and/or nationally significant conferences. This particular grant will support a working symposium designed to produce a national recovery-based research agenda and a working platform. The goal is for participants to understand successful recovery-oriented systems change efforts and how various stakeholders at many different levels can play a role in that change. This grant program will be administered by SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and only direct costs will be funded. The maximum conference grant award is $50,000 for a 12-month project period SAMHSA is a public health agency within the Department of Health and Human Services. The agency is responsible for improving the accountability, capacity and effectiveness of the nation's substance abuse prevention, addictions treatment, and mental health services delivery system. |
