Date: 11/20/2008 Three New Members Appointed to SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Treatment Advisory CouncilThe Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced the appointment of three new members to the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) National Advisory Council. This is a 12-member panel of experts that meets regularly to advise the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary, SAMHSA’s administrator, and CSAT’s director on a wide range of public health matters related to prevention, treatment, and recovery support services. The new CSAT National Advisory Council members are: Arthur C. Evans, Jr., Ph.D., director, Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Mental Retardation Services, and former acting commissioner, Department of Human Services Carrick Anne Forbes, student and speaker, Hastings on Hudson, N.Y. Peter C. Formaz, NCAC-II, LAC, Behavioral Health Services, Benefits Healthcare, Helena, Mont. These new members will join the current members of the CSAT National Advisory Council: Mr. Abdelwahhab Alawneh, Ms. Anita Bertrand, Rev. John D. Castellani, Dr. Betty Ward Fletcher, Dr. Elizabeth Howell, Dr. Francis A. McCorry, Dr. Juana Mora, Mr. Gilbert Sudbeck, and the Honorable Eugene Whitefish.
