Date: 3/9/2009 SAMHSA Accepting Applications for FY 2009 Jail Diversion and Trauma Recovery Grants with Program-Priority on VeteransThe Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is soliciting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2009 Jail Diversion and Trauma Recovery Program- Priority to Veterans grants. These grants are designed to address the needs of individuals with post traumatic stress disorder and trauma-related disorders involved in the justice system. SAMHSA expects that approximately $11,830,000 in funding will be available to award up to 6 grants for up to 5 years. The average award amount is expected to be up to $394,000 annually. The actual award amounts may vary, depending on the availability of funds. The grants will be administered by SAMHSA’s Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS). WHO CAN APPLY: Eligible applicants are the immediate office of the chief executive of a state (e.g., Governor), territory, District of Columbia; or other federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native Tribe or Tribal organizations. Grantees must provide 25% of the total costs of the grant project from other non-federal sources, made in cash or in kind fairly evaluated, including planned equipment or services.
