Date: 1/6/2010 SAMHSA is Accepting Applications for $382 Million in Grants for the Access to Recovery Program
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2010 for Access to Recovery (ATR) grants. The ATR program provides people seeking drug and alcohol treatment with vouchers to pay for a range of appropriate community-based services.
The Access to Recovery (ATR) Program is designed to provide client choice among substance abuse clinical treatment and recovery support service providers, expand access to a comprehensive array of clinical treatment and recovery support options (including faith-based programmatic options), and increase substance abuse treatment capacity. Monitoring outcomes, tracking costs, and preventing waste, fraud and abuse to ensure accountability and effectiveness in the use of Federal funds are also important elements of the ATR program.
SAMHSA expects that up to $382 million will be available to fund up to 30 grants for up to four years. The annual award amount will range from $2 million to $4 million each. Continuation awards will depend on the availability of funds. These grants will be awarded by the SAMHSA’s Center for Substance Abuse Treatment.
