Date: 3/5/2010 SAMHSA is Accepting Applications for More than $82.5 Million in Mental Health Transformation Grants to Help Adults with Serious Mental Illnesses
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for $82.5 million in Mental Health Transformation Grants (MHTG). These grants will provide States, Tribes and local governments the opportunity to expand treatment capacity and to identify emerging service needs of adults with or at-risk for serious mental illnesses, especially those related to economic problems.
It is expected that approximately up to 22 grants will be awarded for up to five years. Awardees are eligible for up to $750,000 each year for up to five years. The actual amounts may vary, depending on the availability of these funds and the performance of the grantees. The grants will be overseen by SAMHSA’s Center for Mental Health Services.
WHO CAN APPLY: State and local governments and federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native Tribes and tribal organizations. [See Section III-1 of this RFA for complete eligibility information.]

APPLICATION DUE DATE:
April 30, 2010. Applications must be received by the due date and time to be considered for review. Please carefully review Section IV-3 of the application announcement for submission requirements.
