The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for fiscal y
ear 2013 Rapid Hepatitis C Virus Screening and Referral grants
totaling up to $1 million for one year
. The purpose of this program
is to address the high prevalence of
viral hepatitis C infection among IV drug users in selected opioid treatment programs (OTPs). In addition to providing rapid hepatitis C virus (HCV) testing, applicants must develop a plan for providing referrals for care and treatment that include, but are not limited to primary health care, public health, mental health and medical services for those who are HCV-positive or are at high-risk for HCV infection.
SAMHSA expects that grants of up to $40,000 will be provided to up to 25 selected grantees for one year. The actual award amounts may vary, depending on the availability of funds.

: Only SAMHSA-certified nonprofit opioid treatment programs may apply. See Section III-1 of the grant announcement for complete eligibility information.
