Overcoming Fear

Psychology Today

Abstract

Fear is a vital response to physical and emotional danger—if we couldn't feel it, we couldn't protect ourselves from legitimate threats. But often we fear situations that are in no way life-or-death, and thus hang back for no good reason. Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to quell… You may be wired to worry, but courage can be learned. This section of Psychology Today contains a wide variety of articles that focus on techniques for understanding and reducing anxiety and fear. Examples include “Fighting the Fear of Flying,” “Our Irrational Anxieties,” and “How Fear Gives You Super-Powers.”
