Funding Opportunities

State Mental Health Data Infrastructure Grants for Quality Improvement (Application due date: May 2, 2009)―up to 16 grants for 1 year, each for up to $12,5000 annually, to expand grant activities that support mental health prevalence estimation found in state populations. The supplements will enable grantees to provide coordination, state data analyses, and information dissemination activities that can inform the state on the mental health status of various populations. (SM-09-018, $200,000)

National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative Community Treatment and Services Center Grants

SAMHSA recently announced the following funding opportunities for Fiscal Year 2009 for the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative:

SAMHSA is soliciting grant applications to improve treatment and services for children and adolescents who have experience traumatic events. The grants fund participation in a national network of intervention developers and service providers who work collaboratively to promote effective community practices for children and adolescents who have been exposed to traumatic experiences. The national network is made up of three types of centers for which grants will be awarded.

National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (Application due date: May 6, 2009)―1 grant award of up to $5 million per year over 3 years for the network coordinating center to coordinate collaborative network activities, oversee resource development and dissemination, and coordinate national and training efforts. (SM-09-006, $15 million)

Treatment and Service Adaptation Centers (Application due date: May 13, 2009)―8 grant awards of approximately $600,000 per year over 3 years to provide national expertise on specific types of traumatic events, population groups, and service systems; develop effective trauma interventions; and support the specialized adaptation of effective treatment and service interventions for communities across the country. (SM-09-005, $14.4 million)

Community Treatment and Services Centers (Application due date: May 13, 2009)―26 grant awards, each for up to $400,000 per year for up to 3 years, to implement and evaluate effective trauma-focused and trauma-informed treatment and services in community settings and in youth-serving service systems and collaborate with other network centers on clinical issues, service approaches, policy, financing, and training issues. (SM-09-017, $31.2 million)
