On April 23, 2009, new honorees and former winners came together for the annual PRISM Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California. “In these difficult economic times, when many of us know someone in our lives touched by these issues, the stories we honor with PRISM Awards have shown great sensitivity towards those who are experiencing addiction, substance abuse, and other mental health problems." said Entertainment Industries Council President and CEO, Brian Dyak. Acting Surgeon General Steven K. Galson participated in the PRISM Awards ceremony to honor actors, filmmakers, producers, and others who strive for accurate depictions of substance abuse and mental health issues: (left to right) Dr. Drew; Rear Admiral Galson; and two of the event’s co-sponsors John Landgraf, FX President; and Brian Dyak, President of the Entertainment Industries Council. SAMHSA is also a sponsor of this event.
