Dr. Phil Promotes Lifeline on YouTube
Dr. Phil McGraw encourages people to call 1-800-273-TALK, SAMHSA’s National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, in a new video posted on Lifeline’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/800273TALK.
Dr. Phil is a clinical psychologist with a syndicated daily talk show, “Dr. Phil,” now in its sixth season.
In the video, one of five official videos posted to the Lifeline channel, he talks about why people should reach out if they are in suicidal crisis or emotional distress and how there is no shame in asking for help.
The clip was taken from a “Dr. Phil” episode about suicidal behaviors, which featured guest Dr. Thomas Joiner, a Lifeline Steering Committee member. The video has garnered more than 1,200 views in the month since it was posted.
Lifeline’s YouTube channel includes suicide warning signs, videos, and links to Lifeline resources.
