Dona Dmitrovic serves as Senior Advisor for Recovery. She brings nearly four decades of experience in substance use, recovery, behavioral health, peer support, and program and policy development.
Dmitrovic previously served as Acting Director of SAMHSA’s Office of Recovery, where she supported recovery initiatives across the agency. She also served as Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, providing executive leadership for federal efforts to advance evidence-based substance use prevention.
Prior to joining SAMHSA, Dmitrovic served as Executive Director of Foundation for Recovery in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she developed and implemented peer recovery support programs, expanded education and training on peer support services, and led the organization’s growth into a statewide agency.
She previously served as Director of the National Office of Consumer Affairs for Optum Behavioral Health, UnitedHealthcare, where she developed peer-based products and tools to support individuals with mental health and substance use conditions. As Chief Operating Officer of the RASE Project in Pennsylvania, she helped launch a nationally recognized program providing recovery support services to individuals receiving medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder.
