An Introduction to Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs

Webinar Date :
Tuesday, January 10, 2017

This webinar is the first of the three-part webinar series Leveraging Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMP) Data to Support Prevention Planning. PDMPs collect, analyze, and make available prescription data on controlled substances dispensed by pharmacies and practitioners. These robust databases can be effective tools for reducing and preventing prescription drug misuse and abuse, yet practitioners often struggle with how to access and use the data they contain.

This webinar provides an introduction to PDMPs for practitioners, including what they are, who can access their data, some of their strengths and limitations, as well as general information on how to access the data and use them to support prescription drug misuse prevention efforts.
