Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN)

Network Watch

The Network Watch highlights new and emerging drug street names and notable findings and insights from routine surveillance of the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN). Understanding drug slang improves communication and awareness, helps identify substance use, and prevents misunderstandings of the substances involved in street drugs.

DAWN collects detailed information on drug-specific names, slang terms, and combinations reported during a visit. This information is maintained in a comprehensive classification system for flexible detection and monitoring. New drug mentions found in the record are reviewed and classified by subject matter experts.
