1998-2014 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) Releases

Conducted annually since 1990, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) provides nationally representative data on the use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs; substance use disorders; mental health issues; and receipt of substance use and mental health treatment among the civilian, noninstitutionalized population aged 12 or older in the United States. NSDUH estimates allow researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and the general public to better understand and improve the nation’s behavioral health. These reports and detailed tables present national estimates from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) from before 2015.

Annual National Reports

Over the years, NSDUH has released reports that present highlighted national outcomes, often including trends, for the noninstitutionalized civilian population age 12 years or older in the United States. The number of reports, and indicators included in each, has varied over the years.

Detailed Tables

The NSDUH Detailed Tables present national estimates on substance use and mental health in the United States. In the tables, indicators are broken out by a variety of demographic, geographic, and economic variables. The tables also include estimates from the previous year where appropriate, including statistical tests of differences between the two years. For select indicators, longer trends are also presented.
