These reports present data from the TEDS about admission and discharges from substance use treatment services in 2014.

Annual Report: Admissions

This report presents national-level data from the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) for admissions in 2014 and trend data from 2004 to 2014. It is a companion to the report Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS): 2004-2014 State Admissions to Substance Abuse Treatment. These reports provide information on the demographic and substance abuse characteristics of admissions aged 12 and older to treatment for abuse of alcohol and/or drugs in facilities that report to individual state administrative data systems.

Annual Report: State Admissions

This report uses data from the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) to examine treatment admission data in 2014, and trend data from 2004 to 2014, nationally, regionally (by the four Census regions and the nine Census divisions), and by state or jurisdiction. The report provides information on the demographic and substance abuse characteristics of admissions to treatment aged 12 and older for abuse of alcohol and/or drugs in facilities that report to individual state administrative data systems. It is important to note that values in charts, narrative lists, and percentage distributions are calculated using actual raw numbers and rounded for presentation in this report; calculations using rounded values may produce different results. For 2014, a total of 1,614,358 admissions aged 12 and older were reported to TEDS by 49 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico (South Carolina, which is in the South Atlantic Census division, did not report sufficient admissions for 2014)

Annual Report: Discharges

This report presents data from the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) for discharges from treatment in 2014. It is a companion to the reports Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS): 2004-2014 National Admissions to Substance Abuse Treatment and Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS): 2004-2014 State Admissions to Substance Abuse Treatment. These reports provide information on the demographic and substance abuse characteristics of substance abuse treatment admissions and discharges aged 12 and older in facilities that report to individual state administrative data systems. In addition, characteristics used to analyze changes from admission to discharge among the linked admission and discharge records are included. Primary substance of abuse, frequency of use, and employment status at admission are repeated in several tables. This is done so that characteristics at admission and discharge can be appropriately compared with each other and to ensure the inclusion of important data that might otherwise be overlooked.
