Does NSDUH collect data on people who have been denied treatment?

NSDUH does not currently collect data on people denied treatment. However, there are several related tables in the 2023 Detailed Tables that may be of interest. For people who felt that they needed substance use treatment but did not get it, 2023 detailed table 5.35 shows the reasons that people indicated they did not receive treatment. Additionally, for adults who felt that they needed mental health treatment but did not receive it, 2023 detailed tables 6.34-6.36 show the reasons. 2023 detailed tables 7.22-7.24 show similar information for adolescents.
