2021 NSDUH: State-Specific Tables
Browse preliminary population estimates based on the 2021 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) for each state and region. There are four tables for each geographic area, which present population estimates and percentages for 35 measures of substance use and mental health by age group. These estimates are based on small area estimation (SAE) methods in which state-level NSDUH data are combined with other data from smaller geographies. The combined data are used to create modeled state estimates of the civilian, noninstitutionalized population ages 12 and older, or adults 18 and older for mental health measures.
The tables are available in a zip file of PDFs or as an HTML file. There is also a table of contents which contains links to specific state files in HTML or PDF.
In the PDF versions, tables labeled with an A include measures of substance use and mental health issues. Tables labeled with a B include measures of past year substance use disorder and treatment.
