NOTE: State and census region estimates are based on a survey-weighted hierarchical Bayes estimation approach, with their p values being the Bayes significance levels for the null hypothesis of no change between the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 population percentages. The "Total U.S." estimates, along with the p values, are based on design-based (direct) estimation methods.
NOTE: Needing But Not Receiving Treatment refers to respondents classified as needing treatment for a substance use problem, but not receiving treatment for an illicit drug or alcohol problem at a specialty facility (i.e., drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility [inpatient or outpatient], hospital [inpatient only], or mental health center). Illicit Drugs include marijuana/hashish, cocaine (including crack), heroin, hallucinogens, inhalants, or prescription-type psychotherapeutics used nonmedically, including data from original methamphetamine questions but not including new methamphetamine items added in 2005 and 2006.
a Difference between the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 population percentages is statistically significant at the 0.05 level.
b Difference between the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 population percentages is statistically significant at the 0.10 level.
